CPanel
CPanel is a fully-featured web-based control panel that allows you to manage your domain through a web interface.

Logging On

You need to log on in order to use CPanel to manage your web site.

To log on:

  1. Enter the address of your CPanel in your web browser. The address needs to be in the form of http://www.yourdomain.com:2082.

  2. The "Enter Network Password Box" will appear. Enter your user name and password in the User Name and Password fields.

  3. Click on OK button. You will now be logged on to CPanel.
Inside CPanel

Once logged in, you will see the main screen of CPanel with information about your domain and your web hosting account.

  • Mail Menu - The Mail Menu area allows you to manage all aspects of your e-mail, from adding new accounts, managing mailing lists, to setting spam filters.

  • Domain Menu - The Domain Menu area deals with all the tools that you need to control your domain using CPanel, including uploading and managing files, maintaining the password on your web site, creating custom error pages, downloading and uploading backup files, and using other tools.

  • Services Menu - The Services Menu area deals with a variety of functions relating to your web site, including security (GnuPG keys), submitting your site to search engines, and tracing the path from your server to you.

  • FTP Menu - The FTP Menu area deals with all the tools relating to setting up and managing FTP accounts, as well as managing FTP sessions.

  • Scripts Menu - The Scripts Menu area allows you to use some pre-installed scripts through CPanel.

  • Statistics Menu - The Statistics Menu area presents you with a wide variety of information about your web site, from the latest visitors to a detailed monthly summary of hits, as well as providing an error log.

  • disk space usage
  • bandwidth usage
  • space available
  • operating system
  • PERL version
  • PERL path
  • sendmail path
  • uptime
  • Frontpage extensions
  • add/remove MySQL
  • edit .htaccess (!! please use extreme caution !!)
  • Traceroute
