Create Web Site Feedback
Web site feedback is an important tool.

Feedback can:

  • Identify problem areas.
  • Identify additional information that needs to be added to the site.
  • Indicate areas that need clarification.
  • Give information that can be used to identify potential customers.

How To Get Web Site Feedback

There are several easy, cost effective ways that an organization can get site feedback.

1. Be direct and ask for it from employees, family members and friends. Ask them to go through the site and give you an overall opinion. At the same time, ask them to note any areas that they found confusing and any suggestions for additions to the site.

2. Have a feedback form to allow end users to evaluate and comment on the site.

Be sure to have someone check this email account or have it redirected to an account that is checked daily. Read the feedback immediately. Customers may use the form to ask for help, inquire about a product or service or register a complaint. In all cases, a timely response is critical.

This form can allow you to gather names, addresses, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers for future promotions. It is acceptable to send an e-mail acknowledging receipt of the form and thanking the end user but not to send bulk mailings unless the end user has indicated a desire to receive them. Many end users consider unsolicited e-mail spam, and it will be viewed negatively.

3. Create an e-mail link to report problems with the site. This link can go directly to your web master. Act swiftly to correct any problems.

4. Conduct research with new customers about how they found out about your business.

This can be done by direct inquiry. Ask them.

Or you can use a simple promotion such as an on-line coupon that the customer prints out and redeems. A simple count of the coupons turned in will indicate how effective the site is.

What To Do With Web Site Feedback
  • Keep a record of all comments and suggestions.
  • When you are notified of a problem with your site (broken links, missing graphics, etc.), fix it immediately.
  • Periodically review web site feedback to see if many end users are making the same comments or asking for the same information.
  • Take the comments and suggestions seriously.
  • Follow Up - contact individuals to thank them and let them know the results.
